Position Summary:
The Project Engineer will support Safety, Engineering, Lean Manufacturing, and Processing Operation requirements of the Iowa facilities while further managing the Maintenance Department. This position will focus improvements on areas of safety, increasing Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), as well as implement systems and best practices to ensure proactive measures are being taken for continuous improvement. The project engineer will help develop and lead the plants vibration, lubrication and thermography programs. The project engineer will be instrumental in developing the systems to drive and sustain reliability improvements.
Responsibilities:
Capital Budget Projects: Manage all phases of multiple capital projects.
Participate in capital appropriation process
Manage capital projects to assure that project expectations are met including cost and time constraints
Maintain and update ACAD layouts
Research and purchase new equipment for new and existing products
Evaluate automation equipment to increase production output
Design equipment layout for new applications
Assist with capital budget tracking
Plant Technical Support
Assist to solve facility engineering issues
Manage in house projects as assigned
Manage the plant maintenance department
Interact with governmental, state, and local authorities.
Trouble shoot all equipment and product flow issues
Achieve results by updating the technologies and productive structures of the plant to overcome technical operational difficulties without increasing manufacturing costs or resources
Develop technical solutions for operational issues that result in increased efficiency, lower cost, or increased safety
Apply Lean methods to make observations and take measurements directly, as well as collecting and statistically interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved
Responsible for contractor oversight as it relates to assigned project responsibilities.
TPM, Lean, Plant Reliability Responsibilities
Hands-on facilitation of root-cause investigation events in all areas of the plant
Hands-on completion of maintenance repairs when needed
Drive asset care and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) strategies
Improve the performance of production lines and equipment by using effective preventative predictive, troubleshooting and problem-solving maintenance techniques
Partner with members of maintenance, engineering and safety to ensure best maintenance practices are employed
Develops and/or improves maintenance standard work procedures and work instructions
Advises/Participates in proper execution and documentation of maintenance repairs and TPM activities
Analyze predictive maintenance data to ensure proper preventative maintenance activities are being conducted
Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign and make/buy decisions
Achieve a high-level proficiency in of the 3 pillars of reliability – Vibration, Lubrication and Thermography through training and certifications (can be acquired on the job)
Qualifications:
B.S. degree in a related engineering field required (Mechanical, Electrical or Related Field)
2-5 years technical experience required
Strong oral and written communication skills
Excellent organizational/time management skills
Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization
Strong attention to detail
Strong background with PLC Programming
Software skills including MSOffice, Excel and statistical analysis programs are required
Knowledge of CAD software
Knowledge of FDA Regulations; Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices; Knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations; Knowledge of standard engineering practices are also required
Electrical / PLC Experience or any equivalent combination of experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities.
